Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L)

The College of Education is moving to Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L)

Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L by Watermark™ is the online e-portfolio and assessment system that the College of Education uses to gather data about student learning and evaluate program effectiveness. 

SL&L Access for College of Education Students

Students in an initial licensure program who were admitted to teacher education on or after January 1, 2026, may be eligible to receive a Watermark Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L) access code from the College of Education at no cost.

If you have questions about eligibility or obtaining an access code, please contact the Womack Department of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation for assistance.

FAQ’s

  1. Students enrolled in an initial licensure program are required to purchase Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L by Watermark™ upon admission to the Teacher Education Program or earlier if advised by program faculty.
  2. Students enrolled in an advanced-level program at the post-baccalaureate or graduate level leading to licensure, certification, or an additional endorsement.

You may purchase access to Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L) by Watermark™ directly from the website, sll.watermarkinsights.com, ($139 + tax). Students with financial aid funds that have been refunded/disbursed directly to them may use those funds for purchasing access to this required course tool. 

  • Go to sll.watermarkinsights.com 
  • Click on the “Forgot Password” link.
  • You will then be prompted to provide your MTSU email address to reset your password.
  • Review the terms of service.
  • Select the pay with a credit or debit card option.
  • Enter the 16-digit key code.
  • Complete the payment form.

The recommended browser is FireFox or Google Chrome.

In your SL&L account, the “Timeline” tab allows you to access completed assignments from previous semesters. All submissions are retained on your Timeline in the order they were submitted.

SL&L accounts are valid for 7 years from the original date purchased.

If you have an active student account in LiveText. You do not need to purchase SL&L. You should be able to access your SL&L account using the following steps:

– Visit the SL&L website: Student Login
– Click on the “Forgot Password” link.
– Create a new password of your choice.

Having trouble navigating the Student Learning & Licensure (SL&L) by Watermark™ system? Here’s a quick guide on who to contact for specific issues:

  • For technical difficulties within the SL&L system itself (e.g., login issues, error messages, functionality problems).
  • If you have questions about specific features or functionalities within SL&L that aren’t covered in the user guides or resources.
  • To report bugs or request new features within the SL&L platform.

To ensure a secure and personalized experience, all support requests must be submitted through the authenticated Watermark Help Center. Email is no longer accepted for creating new tickets as of June 12, 2025. (This article outlines the available support options and how to use them.)

  • For questions about specific program requirements, assessment policies, or using SL&L within your program curriculum.
  • If you encounter issues related to user permissions or roles within SL&L for your program or courses.
