Residency II
Residency II is the second semester of the Residency year, formerly referred to as student teaching. It comprises two (2) placements (five (5) days per week) in a public school classroom for sixteen (16) weeks. Residency II is the culmination of the teacher preparation experience and the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills learned in prerequisite classwork and Residency I. Capstone assessments of content knowledge, pedagogical skills and dispositions occur during Residency II. These assessments include the Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model (TEAM) evaluation system, the edTPA (Teacher Performance Assessment) portfolio, Praxis II, Dispositions, and the Assessment of Student Teacher Preparation (ASTP). Successful completion of these assessments will lead to graduation and application for a Tennessee teaching license.
