The MTSU Foundation Scholarship applications for the 2026-2027 academic year opened 10/1/2025 and will remain open until 03/01/2026. Students must complete the General Application to apply for Foundation scholarships. Once the General Application is completed, students will be prompted to complete additional sub-applications to determine their eligibility for scholarships.
*This general scholarship application will match you to scholarships all over campus,
not just in the COE!
TEACH Grant
The Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program provides grants up to $4,000 per academic year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Students interested in applying for the Federal TEACH Grant must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year and submit a Federal TEACH Grant application to the MT One Stop.
In exchange for receiving a Federal TEACH Grant, you must be a highly-qualified, full-time teacher in a high-need subject area for at least four years at a school serving low-income students. You must complete the four years of teaching within eight years of finishing the program for which you received the grant. You incur a four-year teaching obligation for each educational program for which you received Federal TEACH Grant funds, although you may work off multiple four-year obligations simultaneously under certain circumstances. If you do not meet your obligation requirements, your Federal TEACH Grant will convert to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan and interest will accrue from the date you received the grant.
Tennessee Future Teacher Scholarship
The Tennessee General Assembly passed Public Chapter 381 which created the Tennessee Future Teacher Scholarship. The 5-year pilot program allows juniors and seniors admitted to the teacher education program of an approved Educator Preparation Program to receive an award towards tuition and mandatory fees less gift aid.
Students receiving the award will incur a service requirement to teach in a targeted setting (i.e., distressed or at-risk county or critical shortage subject area as determined by the TN Department of Education) for four consecutive years.
For more information about eligibility*, requirements for service, county or subject area eligibility, and contact for more information, visit https://www.collegefortn.org/future-teacher-scholarship/.
* Please note a letter of recommendation from your Academic Department Chair (or their designee) is required as a part of the application process.
